DO NOT BUY LG: will not keep food cold nor help

LG Fridge Issue 1/14/2025

after about 14 months of ownership 11/2024 the fridge will not keep a food safe temperature. Even sealed food from the store was going bad lunch meat cheese coconut yogurt etc. then the veggies and fruits. I got very sick one week and finally put it together that I ate bad food because this fridge didnt keep temperature. We got an appliance thermometer to confirm the issue. The first LG person came out and said its the fan. He did something to it and said it should be fixed. If still having issues contact him again. When I contacted him again when that didnt work he said he wasnt available because he was going to be on vacation for 2 months to call someone else. Contacted them again. repair visit with LG Scheduled for 12/31/24 did not make it. Rescheduled to 01/08/2025. 2 boxes showed up to the house before to replace a compressor. But the last repair person said it was not the compressor a known issue. New second LG repair person said this was due to the wrong notes in the system. He took those back and we were not charged for them. This time the second repair person said it had something to do with blocking the air vent at the top of the fridge. The cold air was blowing but blocked. Frankly no way we had blocked the entire vent across the whole top of the fridge. Solution was to empty the entire fridge including freezer and let it defrost for 2 full days. Then give the fridge at least 1 full day to cool down again. We followed directions. At the recommended manual temperature the fridge still didnt get cold enough for food per FDA. Turned down to the lowest temp in the fridge and freezer. It finally got down to the safe temperature for food. Issue is: this is the second fridge of this exact model we have had. The first one got too cold in the freezer. purchased 8/27/23 It collected frost and then you couldnt open and close the drawer properly. That was replaced with the current fridge swapped 9/23/23. This is just over a year old and it cant keep the correct temperature unless its on the coldest temperature setting. Two different LG certified repair people have been here and no one can figure out what is wrong. We are very concerned that it will not last longer than another few months. We paid $1500 for a brand new fridge and expect it to last at least 10 years. LG says that even though this is our second fridge of this exact model and its still not working its not enough to consider alternative options refund or replacement. LG is saying per their definition of repairs that we only have ONE attempted repair. Their definition of repair is that parts were replaced. They consider the second repair person coming out as maintenance. so we have to wait for a third person to attempt to fix this fridge and with parts in order to even be considered for the alternative options. After this experience we will never consider a LG appliance again. Its just a piece of junk and we will have to haggle with LG to provide any kind of decent help.

I have never written a review before but not happy with purchase.I bought fridge in March 2024 have put 3 filters in water and ice smell toxic and taste horrible. Was told its because of open containers in fridge. I just want a fridge where I can get ice and water anytime I want.

Freezer ices up frequently and not even hooked up to water. In a year it happened 3 times and Im told thats not covered by warranty? The bottom drawer in refrigerator needs both doors open to access. Im thinking a better design wouldve been separate drawers one on each side. Very little room in freezer and food catches up underneath when you close the drawer if youre not careful. I wish I had chosen a different model.

Service great/prepay $399++ a rip off

The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. I would rate him 5 stars. The issues comes from the forced prepay of $399 plus tax LG charges no matter what your issue is on the refrigerator. We were held hostage by LG. We had all our appliances serviced by a local repairman who wouldnt touch our LG except routine maintenance. He said the weird sound was caused by the compressor failing and the next day our refrigerator cooling went out. Since our refrigerator seal had been pulling apart he suggested we order a replacement seal. Months before I had sent a photo into LG showing the seal and they too suggested the replacement seal at a cost of you guessed it $399 plus tax included labor. I ordered the seal and it was $33 plus $11+ for shipping no labor. It was here when the LG technician came to repair the refrigerator. He looked at the door and said that the seals can split and it was normal. Said to send the part back. He replaced the air compressor FAN which was not under warranty and the ice maker part. He cleaned up very well and explained things to us. He was fantastic. In order to send the seal back is another $10 for the label. The rip off continues. I read on line that LG is notorious for compressors going out way too soon.

Impossible to completely clean

Really like the look of this refrigerator. Its been fine. My only issue which is pretty major is the difficulty in cleaning. The bottom drawer of the refrigerator is not sealed and food pieces can get into the tiny little places. Impossible to clean. I took it out and soaked it in the tub the rain the shower handle throw it but some crumbs remained. I also had packaged meat in the above drawer which leaked blood and when taking them out they also had tiny little place where blood leaked there and I have no access to clean it. Also when trying to take them out drawer outI broke the roller. So if you want a clean looking refrigerator look for a better inside design

Do not buy LG appliances. Theo s comes from owner who does cares and maintains well its property. The previous appliances served us well for 22 yrs and were replaced while still working great. Bought full kitchen equipment in 2021. Three yrs later the refrigerator stopped working properly. The online support is unreliable which is terrible service. Very disappointed.

LG Refrigerator Issues

We purchased the 1st one through Costco.com it did not cool down below 40degrees LG was having issues with this as you can search online to see all the complaints contacted Costco concierge they issued a replacement new refrigerator worked for 3yrs then freezer fan quit working also when 2nd refrigerator arrived there was a paper inside stating that by accepting this refrigerator we would not be able to join a class action lawsuit about the unit not working. Now that the freezer fan has been changes it has been working OK. We did purchase the extended warranty through Square Trade backed by All State was not happy with them as you do not have a choice in who they send to repair your item. The service person was not very knowledgeable and not willing to listen to what I found in the service manual on how to remove the bottom drawers. Ours broke after 2.5 years

Our refrigerator part broke after 2.5 years. The warranty from Costco is only 2 years. We are still waiting for LG technician to contact us to come see if its covered under LGs 5 years warranty.

When I bought my LG refrigerator 2 years ago I loved it I loved the 2 drawer freezer on the bottom and I loved the French door design. My old refrigerator was 30 years old and to get this new one made me feel like a movie star. A few months ago it began to leak all over my kitchen floor. I called lg and was told that their repair people are in Texas we are in Illinois. For 3 months I called trying to find a repairman and my kitchen floor is ruined. I think it is fixed I finally got a sears repairman to come. I do still love it however I dont think I will buy another lg product.

Worst experience of my life

I am a singlebmom withb4 kids and my fridge went out. Had a technician come out and check it out. He looked me in the face and said he was ordering the part and would be back that Thursday at the latest. Didnt hear from anyone so I called and was told no one would be coming back to fix my fridge. Said my house was dangerous working conditions with bags of trash laying around they were bags of clothes toys for donation and said my fridge was infested. Called my pest control and they said No maam your fridge is NOT infested not sure why we were called out sorry sounds like your Tech is being being super shady. Meanwhile my fridge is still NOT fixed. WORST experience of my life. SHADY SHADY SHADY business LG is.

Fridge had good basic features nothing special

I bought a fridge from LG that had a 1 yr warrantee. It went bad at 8 mos. Paid $1500 Counting credits and $ down bal. financed $1250. LG would only pay the amount charged and not what was actually paid. Couldnt buy a new one for $1250 so unless Home Depot wrote off some on a new one I was left to buy used. Home Depot came thru discounting a similar new fridge to the $1250 from LG. So LG screwed me out of $300 value by not refunding the $1595 and sending the $1250. Five stars to Home Depot 3 stars to LG.

I bought this fridge 8 months ago it developed an internal water problem. LG refunded the price of the fridge after the discounts I earned were applied. The refunded amount fell short of the actual price before the discountssuch as $100 off for getting a home depot card 10 percent first responder discount and money applied before charging the item balance to the card. There payment to me was about $400 short of the actual sale price. I would have opted for a replacement instead of the smaller amount offered but Home Depot stepped up and took the hit for the differance of what LG offered and the price for another fridge. I am satisfied only because Home Depot ate the differance. Good for Home Depot BAD for LG

Over all happy with my purchase. Why doesnt LG include a butter tray and ice scooper? You have to open booth doors to open the meat or salad bin. That is a pain to open booth doors just to get meat out.

I bought my refrigerator 2yrs ago broke down recently. I have an extended warranty however I had 2 scheduled repair visits scheduled that ended up no shows. The reason give no one wants to work on LG refrigerators. They finally found someone to work on it and after 2 visits supposedly it was fixed after 2 days short of 3weeks Next day ice maker stopped working properly Now Im waiting 5 days for them to check it

It took about three weeks to get a repairman to my house going through LG. I had an error code the ordered the part and it was replaced. 3 hours after the repair the error code appeared shain. I contacted LG and they said it would be sent to scheduling. It has been over a week and no contact from them. What if my fridge quits working at all? No urgency to get the appliance working properly.

Poorly designed and programmed

This refrigerator has several design flaws. After professional installation the doors do not close properly. The left door slams shut every time the right door will not close completely without pushing it or slamming it manually. The right doors plastic closer mechanism has been replaced multiple times works for a week or so then wears out and stops pulling it closed. The door alarm timer is annoying and cannot be turned off. One cannot load it after shopping or even fill two cups of water from the internal spigot without it going off. A simple program could disable it when the water is activated or a motion sensor to reset the timeout if someone is actively using it. It would also be a simple program to delay ice harvest when the top drawer is open: currently opening the door triggers harvest and the ice drops to the bottom drawer Not a very smart fridge. Disappointing to spend this much money on such a pretty poorly designed unit.

I have had my fridge for about a month and coudnt be more happy. My last fridge was 25 cu ft my LG is 27 cu ft. Going to the 2door fridge with two pullmout freezer drawers instead of the side by side seems as though there is twice the space. We are very happy with this product.

Ive had this lg refrigerator for about two years and Ive encountered a few problems. Ive had to fix the fridge two time so far due to ice build on the fan. This problem cause the fridge portion to stop working. Now I am replacing a circuit board which is costing around $500 for part and labor. When I go into the freezer section of my refrigerator I have to wipe frost off of my food which is weird to me. Other than that I have no other problems with this model.
